  Words That Kill Presentations

by Jerry McTigue

Dull Presentation

You’re sitting there, your phone is buzzing in your pocket, you'd really like this presenter to get to the point, and then (groan) they say something like...

“Bear with me for a few minutes while we explore…"

“First, let’s go back and see how this all came about...”

"There are fifteen things you need to be aware of…"

“Let’s take a detailed look at the numbers…"

“Our company mission is based on five distinct philosophies…"

Please! Keep your presentations brief. Skip the BS. Lose the tedious background baloney. Get right to it. Surprise. Excite. Illuminate. And sum up. Then, open it to questions. If your audience wants more, they’ll ask!
